Необдуманные слова

- You know, one should really think before one speaks. Of course it’s a cliché, but it’s a true one.

- That’s correct. If one speaks without thinking first, it’s easy for one to offend one’s friends, family members or coworkers.

- You can say that again. One day last week I really thought I was in for one. I was in such a bad mood, so I let off some steam on my coworker. I started to complain about the weather, about my boyfriend. One thing led to another, and I was complaining about my boss. Unluckily for me, he overheard.

- Oh no. From what I know, he isn’t one to take that sort of thing lightly. What did he say to you?

- He started to yell at me. One would think that he’d at least yell at me in private, in his office, but no: he yelled at me right in front of everyone.

- But at least you weren’t fired!

- Right, but I almost wish I had been. It’s now hard for me to face my boss. One really wants to kick oneself in these situations.
