Пропавший выходной

When Jane’s alarm clock went off at seven o’clock in the morning, as usual, she stepped out of bed and prepared to get ready for work. After a few seconds, however, she remembered that it was a national holiday and she had the day off. She wished she had remembered to turn her alarm clock off, so that she could have slept in. She always preferred to sleep in on days off. She went back to sleep for a few hours, and finally woke up in the early afternoon. While on workdays she preferred to drink coffee and have some cereal for breakfast, on days off she liked to skip breakfast all together, wake up at lunchtime, and order Chinese food to be brought to her apartment. Unfortunately, on this day off she was unable to order Chinese food. She looked for her purse, and realized she had left it at her office. She had no money to order anything. “If only I weren’t so thoughtless!” She lamented to herself. If she hadn’t been so careless, she would have been able to spend her day off as she pleased.
